Prohibitchin' won an award!
Cheers to a second place win at the 2021 North American Guild of Beer Writers awards.
I knowww how some people feel about awards, but after a year and a half of absolute mayhem that just won’t quit, I’m going to take my wins where I can get ‘em. Recently, one extraordinarily awesome win came from the North American Guild of Beer Writers awards!
Less than a year into its revived state, Prohibitchin’ snagged second place in the “Best Blog” category after a well-deserved and overdue top prize for Beervana. Jeff Alworth’s continuously phenomenal coverage of beer in Portland, Oregon and beyond has been going strong since 2006, so if you aren’t already emotionally invested in his work (as I very deeply am), be sure to check it out here. (You should also probably buy his latest book as well: the second edition of The Beer Bible, now with more IPA content!)
Third place went to Eoghan Walsh’s Brussels Beer City with an honorable mention for Oliver Gray’s Good Beer Hunting blog This Must Be The Place. Both are well worth your time.
None of this would be possible without you — the readers! — so thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for your continued support. Prohibitchin’ aims to shine a light on those who have not (yet) been recognized for their contributions across all fermented beverage categories, so here’s to finding great people doing great things all over the world. And as always, if you know of someone who would be a great future feature, shoot me a message.
If you’re interested in joining NAGBW, there are three membership levels starting at just $25 for a year. Between the virtual events, training sessions, and (hopefully) more future IRL meetings, I personally find tremendous value from it and encourage anyone even remotely interested in investing in their beer writing to join.
And of course, please tell your friends, family, co-workers, mortal enemies, neighbors, pets, and random strangers about Prohibitchin’. It’s free to read and subscribe, so why the heck not?
Do you know of a woman or non-binary person working in beverage alcohol who hasn’t seen the spotlight—and should? Nominate them for a future feature!
Prohibitchin' is made possible by a sponsorship from Hopsbauer, a woman-owned hops brokerage company based in San Diego. Hopsbauer brings the best hops from around the world to craft breweries. Find out more by visiting Hopsbauer.com, and thanks to Liz Bauer for her generous support!
